My research activities are transport modeling and planning, with particular focus on ITS, traffic flow modeling and Big Data for transport engineering. My Ph.D. project concerned the application of advanced methods for the analysis of current traffic conditions, the short-term prediction of the future evolution of the traffic state and the provision of real-time information to travellers. The objective of this project was to provide an integrated framework for traffic forecasting using both artificial intelligence instruments and consolidated theories about traffic flow propagation.
